On Sunday, June 3rd, 2012; I was singing the lazy
song as usual when I decided to check my timeline on twitter, the first tweet I
saw was from a cousin in the aviation school in Florida, he said “standby, I
think there’s a plane crash” I ignored it because it was a tweet from Florida.
*what’s my business* next thing I saw was a tweet from d’banj saying “Wow! I’m
so saddened to hear of the plane crash in Lagos. May God comfort the families
of all those lost. #PrayForNigeria”. I then
questioned myself, why didn’t anybody from Lagos tweet anything sad? Only people outside the country, it later dawned on me that there was actually a plane crash in Nigeria; it had crashed in a residential area, obviously people died. Then I figured it was only CNN that viewed the occurrence. “WTF!!!” I exclaimed, “no local station was showing the incident, this country is turning to something else”.

Well that was the least of my concerns. I first of all
thought of the people that were “chilling” in their houses when a plane crashed
on their heads to kill them. Some people who would have never expected or
dreamt of any contact with an aircraft. A story I heard; children were sent to
buy ingredients for dinner only to get home to see that there was no longer a
place to call home or people to call mummy or daddy. I was drenched in pity and
fear by the way the day was going. Only in the morning I heard of the bomb last
in Bauchi and the automobile accident a day before. What more wrong could
occur?
Everyone has said several things and blamed several people,
of course we are humans and definitely would blame someone for any mistake. I
was moved by the happenings that all of a sudden I was listening to Yoruba
gospel music * straight face* who wouldn’t be scared? Now I can’t wake up and
check my phone as usual, I get the reminder that there is a God and he doesn’t
need to ask anyone’s permission before making any choice.
It’s by his grace and we should all be thankful..
Nice write up all I can say we need Gods intervention cos things in Nigeria is getting way out of hand no human can solve it other than God.May the soul of the deceased R.I.P
